Landing that coveted job interview can be an exciting experience, but there’s still much more work to do. Getting through the interview process can be a challenging and nerve-wracking process. Here are some things not to do during interview preparation.

Don’t dress inappropriately. First impressions count and although many people think of a dress or suit as the go-to interview wardrobe, there is such a thing as overdressing. For an outdoor position such as a lifeguard or construction worker, dress a bit more casually in jeans and a clean shirt.

Don’t forget to do your research. Be prepared to answer questions about the company’s purpose and background. Employers want someone who has a true interest in the company rather than someone who is simply looking for his or her next paycheck.

Don’t talk too much. Although employers look for candidates with strong communication skills, they want someone who can answer questions succinctly without rambling on. Don’t be shy but don’t share your life story either.

Most importantly, don’t lie. It’s fine to state your qualifications, but don’t exaggerate. Companies will often fact-check your answers and being dishonest can penalize you.

Following these tips will help make the interview process go smoothly and ensure your success in this tough job market.

Now is a great time to become a programmer. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer programmers earn a median hourly rage of $34.32 per hour and a median salary of $71,380 per year.

In 2010, there were 363,100 programming jobs in the United States alone, and that number is expected to grow. In the next seven years, it is anticipated that more than 40,000 programming jobs will be created in the United States.

Most programmers work in offices in the information service industry or in the computer systems design industry. Just over 30 percent work in computer systems design, 12 percent work in the information industry, 7 percent in finance and insurance, 6 percent in administrative and support services, and 5 percent of programmers work in the government sector.

Although most programmers have a bachelor’s degree, some companies hire workers with an associate’s degree in computer science or a similar field. With this educational background, programmers gain the skills they need to easily learn new computer languages and build a foundation for debugging programs, writing code and other tasks they will complete on the job.

If you are interested in becoming a programmer, you should have analytical skills, be detail oriented and be able to concentrate for long periods of time.

Essentially, the Internet is a great tool for marketing, advertising and hunting for jobs.

There is so much competitiveness in the job market with people fighting for jobs. There are some things you can do to help set you apart from the rest of the applicants. The main thing you want to focus on is the interview. A resume is great but only you can really describe why a company should pick you over others. This gives you the chance to make them want to hire you and a good first impression is always important. The interview gives them a chance to get to know you on a more personal level.I found some more information here. Even if you do not have all the qualifications they may still be more apt to hire you because they like you. Another thing to keep in mind is although having the right certification or degree is important, bringing experience into the job can be more influential. You can gain experience not only by your previous work experience but also volunteering in the field as well. This shows you truly want to learn and care about what you do. Having the experience can truly set you apart and make you more compatible for the job. The last thing is to be yourself. If you do not get the job, look at it as a good thing. The job was probably not right for you and there is a better one around the corner.

Getting your degree in computer, programming, or engineering can be very rewarding. Afterwards you might be thinking “now where am I going to get a job”? When applying for a job keep in mind what you want from a company. Some people look for the best pay and some look for a great benefit package. While you are in school there are a few things you can do to prepare for graduating and working in that field. There are many places that offer internships, which will teach you a little bit about what you will be doing when you graduate. Also if you do an exquisite job they might offer you a permanent job, once you’re done with your schooling. The best kinds of jobs to apply for are federal government jobs. They offer some of the best benefits and pay. The state government also offers jobs with the same great benefits. Besides government jobs, there are also other great jobs that offer amazing benefits and flexible schedules. So as you see there are things you can do to set yourself up for success when your degree is completed. Work hard and get good grades, and the sky is the limit for you!

It’s funny, most people are so frightened to jump into tech work. But for those of us with experience and passion for the field, the problems lie more on how qualified we are, and the best places to look for jobs. Don’t worry, this information is plentiful, and you should find what you are looking for if you read this post.

First of all, there a few qualifications you’ll want to get before you’ll be looked at seriously for an IT job. Usually, a bachelors degree in any computer field will be enough to get you at least a low level IT position, but if you want a higher position (such as management), shoot for a graduate degree. On most occasions, a bachelors will only take you around four years to obtain. Ideally, you should find an entry level position with that degree, and continue towards your masters while gaining valuable work experience. Remember, any certifications you can acquire on specific software or hardware will make employers go crazy over you.

As for the top areas to find work in the IT field, high populated areas are always a sure thing. With more people, comes more problems right? The higher rate of school systems per district will assure you some type of position, but don’t count out rural areas. If that area has no permanent technicians or engineers, you’ll be first in line if you’ve acquired the qualifications listed above. Some of the most popular areas to acquire a job in IT are Houston Texas, Washington D.C., Columbus Ohio, Detroit Michigan, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Edison New Jersey, and Boston Massachusetts. These areas are all booming in hiring for technological jobs, so if you’re willing to move, make sure to give them a try.

Hopefully that’s enough to get you started towards a career in IT, Programming, or even Engineering, as they all will basically take the same qualifications.

High-tech industry careers are nationwide. Any city, any state needs high tech workers. Silicon Valley, located in California, is often the “techies” dream location since it is home to many of the largest high tech businesses in the world. But, if you are looking for something outside Silicon Valley, which may be a wise decision since cost of living is so high there, it doesn’t take long to notice that tech jobs are growing everywhere. The trick is to find where high tech jobs are in demand the most and pay best.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. Areas that have experienced steady growth over the past few years include: Seattle, Washington; Baltimore, Maryland; Colombus, Ohio; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Salt Lake City, Utah. Surpisingly, Montgomery, Alabama, has become a great place to work for high-tech workers due largely to the fact that it is home to Maxwell Air Force Base, which happens to be a major computer hub for the Department of Defense, and that Dell and Oracle have offices there. The best way to tackle looking for a high-tech job is to hit websites, such as monster.com, indeed.com, careerbuilder.com and snagajob.com. It is also beneficial to keep up with the industry through various publications.

Many people are concerned about the current economic situation. Jobs are scarce, but there is one area that is offering great careers and is growing at an incredible rate. The high tech field offers great chances for people to land a rewarding career. There are several ways to find the job of your choice. Searching on the Internet is one choice that works well. Applications are found on the home pages of the largest companies and can be filled out at any time of the day or night. This is one way to find a high tech job.

Another option is to rely on the use of job search engines. These engines comb the Internet and search for all the jobs that are offered in certain fields. Applications can often be filled out only once and submitted for multiple openings. This makes the search process easy and helps applicants find the most openings. Looking at local companies is another viable option. Talking with the companies is one method that works wonders when on the hunt for a new job. Networking is also facilitated in this way. Openings are always happening, so most companies will keep applicants in mind for the future.
