It’s funny, most people are so frightened to jump into tech work. But for those of us with experience and passion for the field, the problems lie more on how qualified we are, and the best places to look for jobs. Don’t worry, this information is plentiful, and you should find what you are looking for if you read this post.
First of all, there a few qualifications you’ll want to get before you’ll be looked at seriously for an IT job. Usually, a bachelors degree in any computer field will be enough to get you at least a low level IT position, but if you want a higher position (such as management), shoot for a graduate degree. On most occasions, a bachelors will only take you around four years to obtain. Ideally, you should find an entry level position with that degree, and continue towards your masters while gaining valuable work experience. Remember, any certifications you can acquire on specific software or hardware will make employers go crazy over you.
As for the top areas to find work in the IT field, high populated areas are always a sure thing. With more people, comes more problems right? The higher rate of school systems per district will assure you some type of position, but don’t count out rural areas. If that area has no permanent technicians or engineers, you’ll be first in line if you’ve acquired the qualifications listed above. Some of the most popular areas to acquire a job in IT are Houston Texas, Washington D.C., Columbus Ohio, Detroit Michigan, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Edison New Jersey, and Boston Massachusetts. These areas are all booming in hiring for technological jobs, so if you’re willing to move, make sure to give them a try.
